These photographs were done on a one day road trip, Fall 2009 in Japan on the Noto Peninsula.

There was a particularly sweet-sad quality to the sunlight that promoted a sense of Deja-vu to almost everything. At this time of year the tourists are mostly gone and the area becomes empty in a way that is perhaps unique to this remote part of Japan. Making this more eloquent is that personal safety is a non-issue in Japan in a way that is almost entirely unknown in the west. I only needed eyes to look forward, never behind.
